North Warren EMS

About Us

The North Warren Emergency Squad is a private not-for-profit charitable ambulance service that serves the towns of Chester and Horicon in Warren County, New York. The North Warren Emergency Squad was one of the first in the region to operate as an independent corporation when it split from the Chestertown Fire Company in 1993. We were also one of the first to begin offering Paid Support Staff for daytime hours.

Today, Paid Support Staff works hand-in-hand with our volunteers to staff our ambulances from 6AM to 6PM, seven days per week. All calls for second and third ambulances as well as all calls from 6PM to 6AM are handled by our dedicated base of volunteers. In 2009, we handled a total of 825 calls for service. Currently, about 70% of our calls for service are handled by our Paid Support Staff.

So far this year, the North Warren Emergency Squad has an average turnout time of about 2 minutes, one of the best turnout times in the county, and 4 minutes better than the time that 911 dispatch will wait before calling for backup.

It is our mission to provide the public with quality, dedicated EMS personnel and care in the most expedient, competent, and professional manner to the communities we serve. It is the duty of the North Warren Emergency Squad to operate in the best interests of the public while recognizing the membership as our most valuable asset.
